2009 Crystal Stone SAAF Auction and SAAF Walk for Life Thank You!!
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who helped in making this years Crystal Stone SAAF Auction a huge success. This year was so tough for everyone and I literally had everything working against us for this auction. It was 9/11, it rained and the economy hit us all. But with all of that, I had a tremendous amount of support in regards to donations for the auction and even raffle items. Some of you left a check to be donated to the San Antonio AIDS Foundation and some of you let me take what was in your pocket. I am truly amazed with the love and support you all show for this community.
I am proud to say that The 8th Annual Crystal Stone SAAF Auction raised over $4,300.00 with 100% of it donated to the San Antonio AIDS Foundation Walk for Life that was held on 9/19/09. We had a great day for the walk and as a whole, we raised over $58,000 for SAAF. I had a blast as the MC and DJ for the event and I was able to participate in the walk aspect as well as I do every year.
Thanks to you all, I was the #1 fundraiser again which I work hard for in memory of my sister Jo-Ellen who passed away 13 years ago and in honor and support of those living with HIV/AIDS today.

RE: Crystal Stone’s 8th Annual SAAF Auction
Greetings,
“In the U.S., approximately one million people have HIV or AIDS, and 40,000 Americans become newly infected with HIV each year. AIDS has replaced malaria and tuberculosis as the world's deadliest infectious disease among adults and is the fourth leading cause of death worldwide.” Every year I hold an auction to raise funds for the San Antonio AIDS Foundation Walk for Life. Over the past seven years I have not only been the top fundraiser for the walk but have also raised over $33,000 from the auction alone. Fighting against HIV/AIDS has been my passion since 1991. I continue to strive for not only funds but also awareness of this disease in memoriam of my sister Jo-Ellen. Jo-Ellen passed away thirteen years ago after a long and strong fight with this disease.
The San Antonio AIDS Foundation Walk for Life will be held on September 19, 2009 at Woodlawn Lake. Each year I not only participate but emcee the event as well. I invite and strongly encourage you to put together a team and join me and many others on that day. Additionally I also request any items that your business would be generous enough to donate for the “8th Annual Crystal Stone SAAF Auction”. The auction will be held on Friday September 11, 2009 at 9pm at The Bermuda Triangle. There will be a live and silent auction during which I will act as the auctioneer. Having been in the radio business (11 years with Clear Channel and now two years at COX Radio) allows me to collect autographed items specifically for this auction. Additionally I call on civic minded business like yours to become involved as well. Last year’s auction raised over $6,500. This year’s goal is $8,000 and with your help I am certain that goal can become a reality. One hundred percent of the money raised for the SAAF Auction goes directly to the SAAF Walk for Life. Please contact me to arrange pick up or drop off of any auctions items you are willing to contribute. I also ask that you include with your donation a brief description of the items as well as the market value. All donations received by August 14, 2009 will be included on promotional information.
